My first business was a failure. I had no marketing budget. I had no sales force. I didn’t even have the product and had to deviate from my business plan. Okay, I didn’t have a business plan. And I overpriced my product.
I had forgotten this utter and complete failure, until I started thinking seriously about what it would take to start a new business. Just thinking about it makes my head spin, and yet it also puts a big smile on my face. I believe I can do it.
Maybe its because I did it once before. Sure, it wasn’t a success, but now I remember how good it felt to be out there, ready to go, and interacting with potential clients. I had a smile and confidence.
And I’m sure the frown-up in Illinois who met a five year old selling a sip of Pepsi for 10 cents, instead of a cup of lemonade for 5 cents, hasn’t forgotten me either.
